The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has (as is stated in an Internal Memo titled “RE: APPEAL FOR WAIVER OF PENALTY” and dated 18th JANUARY 2023:
“approved a waiver of late renewal penalty….” for certain categories of companies listed in the memo “whose licenses expired within a period of not more than two (2) years (2020-2022)“.
Below are the four categories of companies listed as eligible to benefit from the waiver in the memo signed by the DIRECTOR (FOOD R&RA) – ABAYOMI BOLAJI JULIANA, mni
1. Water Producers
2. Association of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria
3. Food Manufacturers (Micro scale)
4. Food Manufacturers (Small scale)
The memo further reads as follows:
“Consequently, the affected companies now have been given a 3-month grace period between 1st February 2023 to 1st May 2023 to submit application for renewal of their expired license, after which, all violators will be sanctioned.”
This waiver is a welcome development. The fact that we got it, is yet another example of why COLLABORATION (which I ALWAYS advocate) is potentially beneficial to everyone!
To God be the glory, NASME Lagos has been given a desk and officer to attend to all challenges facing MSMEs at NAFDAC office Oshodi.
The letter to NAFDAC had our plea tweaked and started from the COVID-19 pandemic which was unfortunately 2020. So – sadly – those late renewals before 2020 are not covered by this waiver 😢.
We are however grateful for the small wins. Amen.
